Clapham Parish Council has submitted its Neighbourhood Plan to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority for publishing.

The plan has been prepared by a Neighbourhood Plan steering Group on behalf of the community of Clapham cum Newby Parish. The purpose of the Plan is to guide new development so that it is sustainable and will help protect and enhance the qualities of the Parish and support a safe healthy and balanced community. The development period that the plan is looking to influence is 2023 – 2030.

Comments should address whether the Plan fulfils various “basic conditions” referred to as follows:

  1. Having regard to national policies and advice contained in guidance issued by the Secretary of State, it is appropriate to make the neighbourhood plan.
  2. The making of the neighbourhood plan contributes to the achievement of sustainable development.
  3. The making of the neighbourhood plan is in general conformity with the strategic policies contained in the development plan for the area (Yorkshire Dales Local Plan 2015-2030 and Craven local Plan 2012 – 2032)
  4. The making of the neighbourhood plan does not breach, and is otherwise compatible with, European Union obligations.
  5. Prescribed conditions are met in relation to the plan and prescribed matters have been complied with in connection with the proposal for the neighbourhood plan.

Comments are invited regarding whether the Plan fulfils the “basic conditions” above.

The consultation period for comments on the draft neighbourhood plan is between 6 November and 18 December 2023.
